Sustainable building is about more than just the design and construction of buildings, it incorporates the characteristics of its location. Sustainable site design is used to evaluate a building site’s environmental resources and potential. It can help one minimize construction damage, maximize solar benefit, identify rare and endangered species so as to protect them, reduce storm water runoff, and a make the best use of available water resources. More than that, sustainable site design is important to the overall health of our watershed and community. Come learn about this critical aspect of sustainable building.

Ms. Restaino lives and practices in the Catskill Mountain Region of New York where she established her own landscape architecture firm, Restaino Design, in 1992. Ms. Restaino graduated from Pratt with a major in sculpture and went on to Cornell for her MLA. She combines her art and landscape architecture training with a commitment to environmental concerns.
